If you book your
holiday in the agritourist farm of Mr. Mario Maffei
you will enjoy in full relax, salubrious air,
silence, nature, genuine food and an atmosphere
of the past. We are in the heart of Lunigiana,
at Apella di Licciana Nardi (in the province of
Massa), at an altitude of 660 m, in the centre
of the climatic region located on the Tuscan-Emilian
Apennines, where Malaspina family used to dominate
uncontested all over the territory. So, in memory
of the past, there is a sighting tower dating
back to 1000 A.D. (obviously located in a strategic
position), which was enlarged and turned into
a defending fortress in the 13th century; later
on, in 1700, it was turned into Belltower and
abbey.
This derelict building, seriously damaged in time
by the wars and by several earthquake events,
in 1995 got back to its ancient beauty thanks
to Mario Maffei.
Now, as you can see from the pictures, the building
rises in the middle of a 1200 hectare exclusive
reserve, where you can enjoy horse excursions
or walking tours and pick up (in the right season)
strawberries, bilberries, chestnuts and mushrooms
of all kinds, which are abundantly available in
all woods of this territory. During your excursions,
may be supported by expert guides, you will certainly
see wild cows, goats, sheep and poultry as well
as game of all kinds (deer, fallow deer, mouflon,
roe deer, wild boars etc.). The river, which crosses
the large territory belonging to the agritourist
farm, is available to the guests keen on fishing,
who can fish wonderful mountain trout in its clear
and clean water.
And after a few hours spent more or less dynamically,
why don’t you relax a little bit, may be
going for a swim in the nice swimming pool available
at the agritourist farm? Just in time for lunch
or dinner, which are served in the wonderful and
large hall used as restaurant and got out of a
room connecting with the tower.

The simple but accurate
cooking offers traditional dishes of Lunigiana,
prepared with biological healthy and genuine products
of our own production. Meat (veal, beef and lamb
of “Zerasca” breed), game, fresh and
preserved mushrooms and underwood products are
the essential raw materials used for the preparation
of the tasty dishes suggested to the guests, such
as:
vegetable pies, “pattone” (chestnut
flour flat bread or “focaccia” cooked
on terracotta tiles), tagliatelle with mushrooms,
tortelloni with vegetable and fresh ricotta stuffing,
game and mushrooms cooked in different ways, thinly-sliced
raw beef, baked lamb etc.
The agritourist farm has six flats and eight rooms
with double bed and additional third bed, all
equipped with private bathroom.
This is the ideal place if you want to spend a
relaxing holiday in close contact with nature.
However, it is also important to say that in less
than half an hour (30’) you can reach by
car the wonderful and very crowded coast places
of the Versilia, the whole east
cost (Tellaro, Fiascherino, Lerici, Portovenere,
Cinque Terre) and the resorts of Levanto,
Framura, Bonassola
etc.
